Manual Cinema

The multimedia shadow puppetry masters of Manual Cinema are back. This season, they bring their performance of No Blue Memories, a work about the celebrated Chicago poet Gwendolyn Brooks, who won the Pulitzer Prize in 1950 for Annie Allen. Brooks, who supported herself as a typist for years, was the first African American to win the Pulitzer. By 16, she’d published 75 poems, and in her lifetime more than 20 poetry books.
