Harlem Quartet has moved rapidly forward since its 2006 Carnegie Hall debut. Departing from the classical string quartet, it embraces jazz, Latin and contemporary works, particularly by minority composers. The quartet has collaborated with a wide range of musicians including Chick Corea, Misha Dichter and Carter Brey. Its members are violinist Ilmar Gavilan of Havana, American violinist Melissa White, violist Jaime Amador of Puerto Rico and American cellist Felix Umansky. The quartet will perform works by Dizzy Gillespie, Billy Strayhorn, Wynton Marsalis and more.
