One could say that Invoke Multi-String Quartet is “not classical, but not not classical.” Invoke’s 2015 album Souls in the Mud embraces bluegrass, Appalachian fiddle music, jazz and minimalism, a weave created by Invoke’s musicians and other composers. The group was chosen for Stanford’s Emerging String Quartet Program and other residencies at University of Texas, Strathmore College and Interlochen. Its musicians are Nick Montopoli, violin/banjo; Zachariah Matteson, violin; Karl Mitze, viola/mandolin; and Geoff Manyin, cello.
