Bang on a Can started by imagining a kind of utopia for music—and then they started to build it. Building a utopia is a political act that pushes people to change, but it can also keep them apart. Now more than ever, Bang on a Can is committed to growing a worldwide community dedicated to innovation through music. This concert seeks to demonstrate an open, welcoming and inclusive space for music and ideas from a wide variety of styles. It features work from co-founders Julia Wolfe, David Lang and Michael Gordon alongside compositions by jazz giant Ornette Cole-man, young pioneer Anna Clyne and Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore.
