Harlem 100

Hosted by Michael Mwenso, whose band Michael Mwenso and the Shakes draws its inspirations from around the globe, this multimedia variety show created in collaboration with Harlem’s National Jazz Museum captures the Harlem Renaissance’s spirit, sights and sounds. It highlights the words and music of Billie Holiday, Langston Hughes, Fats Waller, Duke Ellington, Bessie Smith and Ethel Waters, and pays tribute to the Apollo Theater, the Cotton Club and other venues of that brilliant era.
