Silent Movie Mondays: The Ancient Law/Das Alte Gesetz

This German film, directed by E.A. Dupont, tells the story of the son of an Orthodox Rabbi from a poor shtetl who breaks with family tradition and leaves to become an actor. A live ensemble will include violinist/composer Alicia Svigals (founder of the Klezmatics), pianist Donald Sosin and clarinetist Laura de Luca (from Music of Remembrance).

This is a special presentation in partnership with the 25th anniversary of the Seattle Jewish Film Festival.
