Randall Goosby Plays Mozart

Encouraged by the Soviets in 1945 to compose a victory symphony, Shostakovich responded with his Ninth: a work filled with sardonic humor and a lightness that conceals the nightmare of global conflict and suffering. The exciting soloist Randall Goosby, who “plays like an angel with nothing to prove” (Los Angeles Times), provides the light of reason in Mozart’s Third Violin Concerto. Rounding out the program is a 1952 work by the long-overlooked Julia Perry.
