The Emperor and Hero come together for a program of orchestral brilliance. Scottish pianist Steven Osborne returns to Seattle after his triumphant performances last year to take on Beethoven’s fifth and final piano concerto, the life-affirming “Emperor.” In Ein Heldenleben (A Hero’s Life), Strauss creates a musical self-portrait with appearances by his wife, friends and even his dreaded music critics. The commanding and elegant Kevin John Edusei makes his Seattle Symphony conducting debut with these epic, thrilling works.
