Celebrate Asia

March 8, 2020
Benaroya Hall

Rachel Garcia

The 12th annual Celebrate Asia shines a spotlight on two young Asian American composers—Reena Esmail and Conrad Tao—who are taking the classical world by storm. Esmail’s Sitar Concerto, written for the upcoming centennial of Ravi Shankar’s birth, will receive its world premiere on the Benaroya Hall stage. Tao, a talented pianist and Lincoln Center Emerging Artist, performs his own work. Pre- and post-concert festivities bookend this celebration of the musical melting pot of Seattle’s vibrant Asian communities.
