Debussy La Mer

November 5–7
Benaroya Hall

Mathias Bothor

The power, beauty and vastness of the ocean come to life in Debussy’s La mer—from the playful dance of light on the surface to the high drama of massive waves crashing into each other. The composer’s seemingly endless color palette is again on display with his quixotic Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune. Violinist Alina Ibragimova brings to life yet another musical titan of the twentieth century: Bartók’s vivid Second Violin Concerto.
