It’s the late 1950s, and Rose and Troy Maxson have been happily married in their Northeast Pittsburgh black neighborhood for eighteen years. We watch this vibrant African-American community weave in and out of the house with Rose, a fierce caretaker and loyal wife, and Troy, former Negro League baseball-player-turned-garbageman, at the center of the action. Through one important event, the Maxson family is thrown into turmoil, and only the strength of community can show them the true power of forgiveness and belonging.
